Sewer Relocation - Clay St to Locust Ave

Welcome to the Project Page for the Sewer Relocation Project - Clay Street to Locust Avenue (CIP 41202)

There is an existing 16" sewer main located in Hangtown Creek between Clay Street and Locust Avenue.  This project was initiated in 2012 to evaluate various alternatives to relocate the sewer main out of the creek.  After schedule delay due to lack of funding, the project was re-started in 2019 and new alternatives were evaluated, including a potential option to route the sewer main into Main Street and an option to relocate the sewer main into the El Dorado Trail.  After thorough review and consideration of the alternatives, it was decided that the Main Street relocation alignment would be infeasible due to significant right-of-way acquisitions, property impacts, and major construction traffic impacts.

At the February 11, 2025 City Council meeting, staff will be making a recommendation to the City Council to adopt the Final Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration and Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Plan for the proposed sewer main relocation alignment into the El Dorado Trail.
