Background
The City of Placerville is currently preparing to start construction of an expansion to the Placerville Station Park-and-Ride located at 2990 Mosquito Road. Park-and-Ride improvements
are federally funded by the Federal Transit Administration and include paving, striping, lighting, and landscaping the existing gravel lot. Measure H/Measure L will fund widening and overlay of
Mosquito Road from Clay Street to Locust Avenue and any necessary underground utility work. Additionally, the existing El Dorado Trail will be re-aligned and flashing beacons will be installed
at the intersection of Mosquito Road and Clay Street to improve safety for pedestrians using the trail. The contract time for construction is 75 working days.
Project Updates
The bid opening was held on September 9, 2022 where the City received three bids, and the construction contract was awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Doug
Veerkamp General Engineering, Inc. on October 11, 2022. The start of project construction has been delayed by weather but is anticipated in mid-April.
Project Schedule (All dates are tentative and subject to change.)
Construction Begins – April 17, 2023
Construction Ends – August 8, 2023
Impacts to Transit Services
For the first phase of construction, minimal impacts to the existing bus stop and restrooms are anticipated. However, at some point during construction, the bus stop will need to be
temporarily relocated for several days while grind and overlay of the existing bus stop pavement is performed. Safe access to the temporary bus stop will be provided to riders, and the
restrooms are expected to remain open. Please check back regularly for the latest project updates.
Construction on Mosquito Road
Although major delays are not anticipated, some delays associated with pavement grinding, overlay, and striping should be expected.
