Placerville is proud to promote international relations and cultural exchange with their Sister City Warabi, Japan.  Warabi, Japan is one of the smallest cities in its area which borders northern Tokyo. 
 
The Sister City is part of El Dorado County’s chapter of “People to People," an organization that promotes visiting other countries, hosting visitors from other countries, experiencing different cultures and making new friends.  On display in Placerville’s City and Town Halls are hand painted silk kimonos from Warabi which are part of the traditional wedding ceremony outfit.
